IEMA Composition Seminar 2019 – Step1

The Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie offers in cooperation with the Gaudeamus Muziekweek a composition seminar.
The IEMA-Ensemble 2018/19 includes 14 artists: 12 musicians (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, percussion, 2 piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass), one composer and one conductor are part of this IEMA year.
Four young international composers in total (the IEMA composer, 2 pre-selected composers by the ULYSSES Network and 1 recommendation by Gaudeamus Muziekweek (see below)) get the opportunity to create world premieres in two steps:
#1. the first period is about “try-out” and “input” under the guidance of the experienced members of Ensemble Modern, the experienced conductor Lukas Vis and the IEMA conductor Musashi Baba in Frankfurt.
#2. the second period contains the rehearsals and concerts including the world premieres at Gaudeamus Muziekweek.
In addition, two musicians recommended by the ULYSSES Network (see below) get the opportunity to take part in this “work-in-progress” project, playing together with the IEMA-Ensemble 2018/19.
