The ULYSSES Platforms
In light of the fact that young creation in the field of new music is today more active than ever, the ULYSSES Network partners began in 2011 to imagine a new online tool conceived to easily identify and support new artistic propositions on international level. The ambition was to set a benchmark in the European cultural sphere, answering to the needs and expectations of contemporary music professionals and young artists.
To fill these objectives, the ULYSSES Network partners created a specific think tank in 2012, in order to define precisely the necessary functions of an appropriate online device. The final objective was to produce a one-stop interface specifically imagined for young artists and organizations.
Following the two prototype platforms that had been developed between 2012 and 2014 (for more information, see below: [ARCHIVE]), after spending a few months to observe practices and receive feedbacks from the different Ulysses Platforms’ users and completely new developments in order to improve functionalities and design, the final version of the ULYSSES Platform finally went online in July 2017 and was enhanced with a new design and improved features in November 2018:
We are moving towards the democratization of collaborative and sharing services online allowing the web user to participate actively in the contents available online.
Promoting collaborations and exchanges between disciplines, artists and organizations, the ULYSSES Network Platform is fully in line with this dynamic.
On one single, re-designed platform, it is now possible to:

- – organize and accounce your calls for applications, evaluate candidates
- – spot new works and be informed about the latest artistic propositions in the field of new music
- – share artistic contents with one or more members
- – share any type of document, send messages, be in touch with one or more members

Some further information about the two prototype online tools that had been developed as protoypes by the ULYSSES Network since 2012, before creating the final ULYSSES Network Platform:
- 1.The ULYSSES Network platform (prototype)
Designed for musical and artistic institutions to organize their calls for applications online and spot the latest talents in the field of contemporary creation, this tool was available for all kinds of organizations that needed to organize calls for applications and the corresponding selection procedures, and to all young artists who would like to apply to one or more calls directly online, without being obliged to send multiple copies of application dossiers.
- 2. The ULYSSES Community platform
Designed for all creative persons interested by projects with new music, this open website had been conceived as a free online space that gathers new works, information about concerts, festivals, academies, and that allow users to get in touch and collaborate online.
Composers, performers, visual artists… have the possibility to publish their works (scores, recordings, videos) and to promote their artistic careers.
Arts and music organizations, festivals, academies, cultural managers or producers can spot the latest talents in the field of contemporary creation thanks to the online database of new works directly enriched by the artists themselves. They can as well disseminate their events and productions.
